The Butterfly House in Bordano represents a corner of exotic nature with plants and animals of surprising colours and shapes, where one can admire hundreds of butterflies flying free.
The Butterfly House represents a new museum model, where the visitors are projected into an astonishing natural reality, rich in content and ideal for conveying the most important concepts concerning biology, ecology and the natural sciences in general.
A vast section dedicated to the “language of colours” teaches visitors to interpret the colours and wings of the butterflies, allowing them to decipher that which these animals “say” with their spectacular flights.
“Weapons of Nature” is a new didactic-naturalistic exhibition relating to the strategies of defence and offence of the animal world, a display that illustrates how evolution has given origin to diverse natural “weapons” thanks to which organisms have survived natural selection. The elements of the exhibition consist of terrariums and aquariums in which there are living subjects (frogs, fishes, reptiles, insects and others), and in which are reconstructed their respective natural environmental conditions. The great innovation of this “exhibition within an exhibition” consists of special posts which release into the air particular scents, the same ones used by plants and animals to communicate.
In the interior of the Butterfly House, hundreds of specimens can be observed, free to fly and intent on communicating passion, fear, deceit and who knows what else...
Those who choose to visit the Butterfly House will be involved in an ambitious project of environmental protection and sustainable development, whether they are conscious of it or not.
