The eighteenth century villa of Toppo-Florio, following the renovation works just completed, will once again house the Museo della Civilta del Vino (the Museum of the Culture of Wine), currently housed in the adjacent high school.
The museum welcomes the visitor and accompanies them through the discovery of the various phases of the wine production cycle, from cultivation to wine making, from commerce to tasting, to the connected artisan activities.
We can admire exhibited here instruments for measuring the land, the utensils used for the preparation of areas destined to be vineyards, the implements used for planting the vines, and the appliances used for the picking and treatment of the grapes.
This interesting collection narrates wine making techniques, the canteens and the wine jars, the tools for grape pressing, and the fermentation containers, the measures, the containers and the equipment for bottling, as well as the oenolgical means for controlling the quality of the wine.
At the museum, an antique barrel seller's shop has been reconstructed, and the tools and rudimentary machinery that were used to construct the barrels can be admired.
