The Visitors Centre of the Parco Naturale Dolomiti Friulane (Natural Park of the Friulian Dolomites), based in Forni di Sotto, is organised on two floors of the building in front of the municipal hall. The exhibition holds materials and educational findings for the purpose of disseminating knowledge of the naturalistic situation in the Park and, in general, the relationship between man and the forest.
The didactical route present inside the Visitors Centre is organised in sections dedicated to the investigation of various subjects.
One section represents the physiological characteristics of the plant using a graphical representation of the physiological functions of the plant via the route of its sap.
The exhibition route then carries on by describing the typologies of the wood in the interior of the Park, and by individuation of the different types of plants present in the Park and the characteristics of the ground.
Furthermore, next to the Visitors Centre, there is an interesting route that ascends the nearby Val Poschiadea (Poschiadea Valley) where there is a reconstruction of an old cable way.
The Val Poschiadea Cable Way operates for the activities connected to the Visitors Centre of the Park of Forni di Sotto, at the same time contributing to helping the silviculture and the collecting of wood for use by the local population.
A visit to the Centre allows one to get to know all of the aspects of the forest of the Natural Park of the Friulian Dolomites.
