
The Picture Gallery of Majano hosts paintings and sculptures originating from the collections of the Pro Majano, the municipality and private individuals.
The Picture Gallery of Majano hosts an exceptional collection dedicated to Friulian artists and others. It has been re-thought and expanded into the adjacent municipal rooms.
The Picture Gallery is a result of a series of shows and exhibitions which followed each other over the years. Included in it is a section dedicated to artists from Majano, local painters and sculptors, and artists that have spent part of their lives in Majano.
In 1986, Majano hosted a personal exhibition by Renato Guttuso, with particular and decisively important works originating from the artist's private collection.The ink drawing, now present in the gallery, was part of this.
In 1987, it was the turn of Aligi Sassu of whom where exhibited some rare ceramic works as well as paintings and graphic works amongst which 'I Due Soli' (The Two Suns) has now been included in gallery.
In 1989, an exhibition was set up of the works by the master of Surrealism, Salvador Dali. Exhibited in the Picture Gallery was one of his incisions in diamond which represents the muse Euterpe, who Dali defines as the muse of music.
The exhibition route concludes with a large section dedicated to Araucana di Sebastian Matta, one of the most important artists of the twentieth century.
