Cornelia Corbellini was born in Tolmezzo on the 3rd of September 1919, where she still lives and works.
A long established painter and an active participant in national artistic life, she has exhibited her works on numerous occasions.
The paintings of Corbellini embrace the field of landscapes with particular reference to the snow capped mountains of Carnia, the flowers of her garden, and portraits. The consistency and the variety of the donation, thirty works dated from the 1940s until the present day, helps to reconstruct the entire artistic journey of the painter.
These are her years of artistic maturity in which there follows, one after the other, a series of splendid works amongst which are the “Bronzino con Crisantemi” (Small Bronze with Chrysanthemums) from 1990, “Alla Fonte della Vita” (At Life's Fountain) from 1995, and “Cesto con Pomodori” (Basket with Tomatoes) from 1998. Colour is the absolute protagonist on the canvas “Prato in Fiore con Giglio Rosso” (Flowering Field with Red Lily), 2001 and “Ortensie” (Hydrangeas), works which still refer back to tradition. On the other hand, they are as innovative as other important works such as “Sciatori” (Skiers) and “Ombrelli” (Umbrellas) created the following year.
Her works of the last few years are unusual and personal, where the real image has left space for memories, shapes disappear in the contours leaving space for emotions.
The paintings of Corbellini have maintained a “faithfulness” along hers fifty years of work: a faithfulness to landscape, to atmosphere, to customs, and to the native people of the land of Carnia, studied and captured by her as sources of poetic inspiration.
In December 2007, the permanent picture gallery dedicated to this painter was inaugurated at the Frisacco Palace in Tolmezzo.
